In this video, we look at one of Switzerland's most beautiful and unique railways, the Unesco heritage listed Berninabahn. We've looked at this line at a similar time of year in a previous video from 2019, before we really started filming 4K:
https://youtu.be/Mw9qiV7XlFs?si=wl7LVEqkPeX_-AHs. It's actually quite interesting seeing how many things have changed in 6 years.
We've also looked at this line in winter 2020, which has been the most popular video on this channel:
https://youtu.be/XsVJ8PCV-0M?si=H_SkABIDjJamYUaTThe Bernina railway sets a few records, including being the highest railway alpine crossing in Europe (2253m), the highest adhesion railway of the continent, the open air railway with the greatest height difference (1824m) and furthermore one of the steepest adhesion railways (conventional railway without cogs) worldwide, with gradients of up to 7%. It's also one of the few alpine crossing railways without a summit tunnel, opting instead to literally drive over the mountain.
