อวกาศ พรมแดนด่านสุดท้ายของมนุษยชาติ ที่พวกเราพยายามค้นหา ที่อยู่อาศัยใหม่ และทรัพยากรใหม่ หรือบางคนอาจมองว่า มันคือการเดินทางเพื่อออกไปเรียนรู้ ค้นหาองค์ความรู้ใหม่ๆ ไขความลับของจักรวาล เพื่อกลับมาพัฒนาเผ่าพันธุ์มนุษย์ หรือบ้างก็อาจบอกว่า มันคือการสำรวจหาโลกใหม่ ค้นหารูปแบบชีวิตใหม่ และอารยธรรมใหม่...

แต่ทั้งหมดนี้จะเกิดขึ้นไม่ได้เลย ถ้าเรา ไม่กลับไปยังบนดวงจันทร์ให้ได้เสียก่อน

ตอนนี้เรารู้ว่าผิวดวงจันทร์เต็มไปด้วยหลุมอุกาบาตที่ตกใส่มันอยู่ตลอดเวลา ใจกลางของมันเป็นโลหะหลอมเหลวเหมือนโลก ผิวของมันเคยเป็นแอ่งลาวา ดินดวงจันทร์สามารถนำมาผลิตออกซิเจนและน้ำได้ รวมถึงหลุมอุกาบาตบางแห่งก็เหมาะสมที่จะสร้างอานานิคมของมนุษย์ได้

และนั่น ก็คือเป้าหมายในอนาคตอันใกล้ มนุษย์จะกลับสู่ดวงจันทร์อีกครั้ง เพื่อสร้างอาณานิคม ก่อนไปยังดาวอังคาร และก้าวไปเป็นเผ่าพันธุ์ระดับดวงดาว
