Why Big Sky?
I named the album ‘Big Sky’, because this collection of music and how it all came to be for me, reminds me and represents the vastness, and wonder of the universe. Music is something that touches us in such a powerful way, but we can't hold it in our hands, only experience it. So to that, when I am in the studio recording it feels to me that the notes, the melodies and the songs are gifts that pour down from the Big Sky... it's never a moment or can be something that I sit down and turn on, it's more of just being preset, and letting the music that was meant to be, surface through my hands and instruments. Hope, Wonder, Love. These are some of the feelings I experience when the music is flowing within me, it’s a feeling to me as if the notes are falling from the sky, and when I think about it... it's a very Big Sky out there, and that fills me with so much gratitude, to think that in these creative moments I am being given these notes and feelings to share with you. I have always felt I am given the music, and never approach it from the place of creating the music myself. As far as I can tell, I am only just here to record and bring this new music into this natural life experience for us. The pursuit of this experience, the wonder I have felt in music, has been my life’s work and dedication to seek, and it is the privilege of a lifetime to be able to show up under the Big Sky, to be present for these moments, and to record this music for you, for us, and to bring it to you in the very best way I possibly can.
The new album contains 17 songs. The encouragement and support you have given my music over the years is undeniably a powerful driving force and collaborative energy behind my creativity. So thank you again from the bottom of my heart for that. I can't wait to share this new music with you all.
I believe music has been given to us, and has the power to heal and transform lives, I’ve witnessed this first hand for many years in both my own life experiences and in the beautiful stories many of you have so openly shared with me. All of this has touched my heart, and changed my life forever. Thank you for being here, and know that I am, and this music is, here for you. I hope that this new album of songs finds you and helps you experience the wonder, the magic, and the possibilities we all can share and experience together HERE, in this Big Sky we share. ~ Ryan
